This has been a week of odd words. From conversations with family and friends, to distraction by one of my favorite online shows, to news articles and food studies readings, here are some standouts:
hirsute = hair
guano = fertilizer and no explosives
philistine = like Ricky Gervais’s eating habits
purview = scope of influence
bursar = think bolsa; financier
opprobrium = harsh criticism/disgrace
putative = accepted/apparent, like rules
(unlike purported = apparently, but falsely)
or astringent = like the face accelerant
(unlike stringent = strict)
